Hydraulic control structures
The control of the water flow is done by sluices. They are plate sluices. A wooden board consisting of several boards can be raised or lowered vertically by a worm gear between lateral guide rails.
4 head race inlet sluices and sediment flshing sluice
Water flows from right to left. The 4 headrace inlet traps are located at the end of the side weir and serve to control the inflow to the head race channel. They can be operated manually with great effort. Normally, these 4 traps are set in such a way that a water volume of about 3 to 4 m3/s can enter the head race.
Sediment flushing sluice
During normal operation the sediment flushing sluice is closed. As its name suggests, it is used to flush gravel and fines away from the side weir channel.
Turbine inlet sluice and bypass sluice
During production operation, the turbine inlet sluice (left) is opened and the bypass (right) is closed..
