Tailrace channel
Below the power house, the underwater channel takes the turbined water and the water flowing through the bypass and returns it to the Reuss River after a flow distance of 980 m. In contrast to the head race channel, the bank protections have not been rehabilitated, so that this section of the channel is very close to nature. The discharge capacity of the underwater canal is influenced at higher water volumes by the water level of the Reuss at the confluence, which means a certain backwater. For this reason, the highest turbine effciency is not reached at high water, but at mean water level.
