Thanks to the gear ratios through bevel gears and transmission belts, the number of revolutions from the Francis Turbine to the generator is augmented forty times. With 1000 revolutions per minute it is able to reach the grid frequency of 50 Hertz. The exciter, which is responsible for the build-up of the magnetic field in the generator, is connected to the generator.
