Nature:
Depending on the season, there are two special features to be discovered in the immediate vicinity of the power plant: on the one hand, a family of storks on the high chimney of the former silk weaving mill and on the other hand, in the underwater channel, the rare fish species of noses.
A small biotope with rare plant and animal species is also the Mülibach gravel pit, above the Ottenbach hamlet of Rickenbach.
The nature reserve Bibelaas is located almost in front of the house, which was one of the reasons to protect the pleasant factory with its canals and turbines.
With the completion of land improvement in Ottenbach at the end of the last century, but especially in the Aargau Reuss plain, smaller and larger biotopes and nature reserves have been created. On the left bank of the river Reuss at Mühlau there is a smaller protected area with a hide. The most prominent is the area around the Shallow Lake near Zufikon. Even in the Zug area, the extensive Maschwander Ried lies to the right of the Reuss, followed by the Zurich areas of Rözi, Lunnernallmend, Lunnerngrien and Bibelaas. An overview of the Reuss plain can be found here.
